The VSAOC advocates on behalf of students on a continual basis. In addition, the VSAOC offers assistance to students with academic and non-academic concerns. In the role of advocacy, the VSAOC can assist students in the following ways:
- Provide information, answer questions, and clarify College policy and procedures
- Assist and support students through their concerns regarding faculty, staff, administration or any other on campus services
- Assist and support students through the appeals process
- Work with the institution and the VSAOC to address concerns that students feel present barriers to a balanced learning environment
Students are encouraged to book a meeting with the VSAOC before they take action on a matter. By accessing the information and experience of the VSAOC prior to moving forward on an appeal, a student can better understand their rights, the appeals structure and their personal responsibilities.
