Sailing School Manager, from about June 19th to Sept 1st.

Responsibilities are:
- Supervising CANSail instructors. (we teach CANSail 1 to 4). CANSail is the Sail Canada Learn-to-Sail program.
- Administer the registration for the summer sailing school and club membership with the help of our on-line registration system.
- Respond to inquiries related to sailing classes or NOSA membership from the public by phone, e-mail or in person at the club.
- Be present at the club as adult to supervise youth during times when no adult sailing coach is present (sailing instructors can be as young as 16 years of age).
- Be in possession of a Personal Watercraft Operator Certificate (PCOC), or be prepared to be trained to PCOC level and learn how to safely operate a security boat when starting your employment.
- Following reports of defects to boats and equipment by members or instructors, organize repairs as needed.
- Oversee the summer LTS (Learn-to-Sail) program which runs from July 3rd to September 1st
- Communicate with BC Sailing.
- General administration tasks as required.
- Ensure that the compound and club-house are in presentable shape and clean to receive students and visitors.
- The sailing instructors report to the Sailing School Manager.
- The Sailing School Manager reports to the Treasurer and LTS Director, both NOSA board members.

• The student will be involved in reaching out to all members of the community and involving them in events and activities at Mackie Lake House.
• The student will plan, coordinate and execute marketing strategies developed in partnership with the existing staff. The Marketing and Events Manager will be responsible for updating information for the MLHF website and submitting current information for social media sites.
• Using social media, traditional media and social networking the student will expand the reach of the events out into the community and the area.
• The student will plan, coordinate and execute a Celebrate Canada event for children, youth and families that will showcase Heritage skills and provide opportunities for inter-generational learning and promotes the history of the rural area of Coldstream.
• The student will be expected to receive and direct visitors and clients and to assist with existing cultural events to be held on the MLH grounds. Following the events the student will collect and analyze data and prepare reports measuring their effectiveness. This data will be collected for all events and the resulting information used to create future events that Mackie Lake House will host.

Required Skills

• Studied courses in Marketing, Communications, Project Management, Event Planning or other related field
• The ability to plan, design and carry out a project or event from beginning to end with well-defined objectives and outcomes

• The skills to continuously monitor the success of an event and identify ways to improve it

• Included in this job will be the research and development of a Tour script celebrating Canada’s history, creating supporting print materials, maintenance of related artifacts and data, and promotion and co-ordination of program delivery.

Required Skills

The candidate must fulfill all eligibility requirements of the YCW Program, including registration on the YCW web site. The Heritage Interpreter position is dependent on grant funding.
Ideally, the candidate will have:
• Completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study in a relevant subject field (i.e. History, Communications, Art History, Visual Arts, Marketing or Education)
• An outgoing personality with good public speaking skills
• The ability to work well with people of all ages
